I'm A Celebrity's Gwrych Castle set 'floods' after week of torrential rain in Wales

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! set flooded over the weekend after a week of heavy rain in Wales, it's claimed.

Bosses have reportedly spent the last few days cleaning up the new set at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales, and more bad weather is on the way.

A source told The Sun : "The crew are working around the clock as it is. But because of the dreadful weather they spent much of the weekend trying to remove standing water from areas of the building.

"They're now trying to work out a way to make sure that, if there's bad weather when the show airs in November, it doesn't affect filming."

The ITV show has been moved from Australia to Wales due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

When it rained in the jungle it was easier to deal with as there was "natural drainage and streams".

But it's said that bosses are still getting to grips with the notoriously unreliable UK weather.

The source added: "An ancient castle with no proper piping systems is a whole different story.

"It's a very soggy headache at the moment."

Mirror Online has contacted ITV for comment.

It's comes after we revealed that bosses have vowed I'm A Celebrity will go ahead, despite the location falling under local lockdown restrictions in Wales.

A source told Mirror Online: "At the moment ITV are operating what is essentially a glorified building site... most people are stationed in Wales and there is very little travel for example from London.

"All the shops, restaurants and bars are all open in the area - as they are places of work – and the castle is no different."
