I'm a Celebrity's Gwrych Castle confirms show will go ahead despite new Wales lockdown

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will still be able to go ahead next month in Gwrych Castle in Wales, it has now been confirmed.

The official Twitter account for the property wrote that following the recent announcement from First Minister Mark Drakeford, the series can take place because it counts as a place of work.

If the show could be created with everyone working from home then they would have to do so, but that would be impossible.

The ITV show, rumoured to have signed up stars including Jessica Plummer, Beverly Callard, and AJ Pritchard, is due to arrive on our screens in November.

The tweet read: "Following the announcement today from the First Minister, the overriding message is that filming CAN continue in Wales providing related activity cannot be undertaken from home, and there is full compliance with Welsh law.

"We cannot wait to see I’m A Celebrity on our screens!"

One fan replied: "Great news!! Cannot wait!"

The 'circuit breaker' lockdown has been enforced to try and halt the spread of coronavirus.

People are being told to stay at home and only leave for essential items or to exercise outdoors. Under the new rules people cannot mix with anyone that they don't already live with indoors or outside.

The regulations are set to come in force at 6pm on Friday and last until November 9 - with the ITV reality show expected to launch on Sunday 15.

Following the latest tightening of social distancing, a spokesperson for the series confirmed to the Mirror that it will continue in keeping with the new rules.

"I'm A Celebrity continues to adhere to all relevant guidelines as well as our own strict Covid protocols," they explained.

Progress is being made at the show's new location despite the pandemic, and it was recently revealed that a new plumbing system was being installed at the listed building, for upcoming trials and the celebs to use in camp.
