I'm A Celebrity's David Ginola tousles his luscious locks in unearthed shampoo advert

David Ginola may be best known for his skills on the pitch but his varied career has seen him try his hand at acting, dance the Tango on TV and even promote hair products.

The 54-year-old, who is among the line-up for this year's I'm a Celebrity, notably fronted commercials for L'Oréal shampoo during the height of his football career, with an unearthed advert showcasing the sporting icon's lustrous hair.

The advert is believed to date back to 1998 and promotes the cosmetics company's Elvive nutri-vitamin shampoo for men - though it assures that it is also suitable for women!

It includes footage of David playing with a football in an empty stadium, with the then Premier League player stating: "I'm a footballer, not a movie star. I just want to feel good about the way I look."

The footballer, who's played for teams including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, later describes the hair care product as having "the winning formula" in his opinion.

Other scenes in the advert show his hair waving in slow-motion and David adds that the brand - based in his native France - keeps his hair "clean, shiny and controllable."

And towards the end, a voiceover artist utters the iconic line "because you're worth it," before David concludes: "A man's shampoo from L'Oréal? It's about time."

The footballer no longer sports his signature hairstyle though, so I'm a Celebrity viewers will see him with much shorter hair whilst he's staying in Gwrych Castle.

The dad-of-three will take part in the ITV series - which returns on Sunday (November 21) - alongside the likes of Richard Madeley, Frankie Bridge and Arlene Phillips.

David hopes it'll be a "great experience" and although he's curious to go out of his comfort zone, he isn't worried about being stuck in the castle. He said this "won't be an issue" because he's got used to being in lockdown recently.
