I'm A Celebrity's Beverley Callard left apologising to Vernon Kay after awkward dig

I'm A Celebrity viewers were pretty amused on Tuesday night, after a moment between camp stars Beverley Callard and Vernon Kay.

The Coronation Street legend was left apologising to her co-star after making a dig at one of his old TV series.

As the campmates were chatting about things, conversation turned to the telly host's former series called Splash.

Celebrities were trained and taught how to dive, before performing in front of crowds from the high board.

It hasn't aired since 2014, while Vernon presented it alongside Gabby Logan.

As the show randomly came up in conversation, Beverley was quick to share her disapproval of the series.

In front of host Vernon she said it was the most stupid programme ever.

Vernon turned to Beverley and confessed: "It kept my central heating on though Beverley."

She seemed confused, until some of their campmates filled in the gaps and revealed he was the host.

Mortified, Beverely suddenly realised she'd slated it in front of the presenter and began apologising.

She told him: "Oh no, I’m so sorry, Vernon, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry."

The campmates, including Vernon, were in hysterics - as were viewers at home, as they watched the awkward moment unfold.

Beverley headed to the Telegraph to share her horror over insulting Vernon, while there were no hard feelings.

She said: "I wanted to curl up and die, poor Vernon. I’m notorious for putting my foot in it, and I really did there."

I'm A Celebrity 2020 airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
