I'm A Celebrity’s Beverley Callard caught 'fibbing' about fitness video success

Corrie legend Beverley Callard entertained her fellow campers on I'm a Celebrity when she waxed lyrical about her fitness video chart success.

The actress who played the iconic character Liz McDonald in Coronation Street released fitness videos back in the nineties.

The 63-year-old soap star told her castle-mates that her video Rapid Results was such a success it knocked the film Heat, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, off the top of the charts.

Her new friends on the ITV reality show listened wide-eyed, especially Radio One DJ Jordan North who was starstruck by the chat, saying his mum had her videos back in the day.

But the UK Official Chart stepped in to rain on her parade, pointing out that Rapid Results, released in 1997, was actually beaten to the top of the chart by Toy Story.

Bev came in at number two with Heat at three, so she was kind of right.

The UK Official Chart' tweeted: "@BeverleyCallard's Rapid Results was Number 2 on the Official Video Chart in January 1997 - Heat starring Al Pacino at Number 3! Toy Story was actually Number 1 (sorry Bev!)"

"In Bev's defence it was over 20 years ago and time can play tricks on one's memory," said one fan, defending the star for the mistake.

And the chart added that she did actually have a number one success, but it was the previous year with her video Real Results.

"Beverley was however Number 1 the previous year, knocking Wallace & Gromit from the top spot with Real Results in 10 Weeks! Go @BeverleyCallard!" they explained.

Bev, who played Rovers Return landlady Liz in Corrie from 1989 until earlier this year, has proven to be a firm favourite with the rest of the I'm A Celebrity line-up and viewers cheering her on at home.

She raised eyebrows, and made hosts Ant and Dec laugh, during the famous eating challenge.

After tucking into vegan versions of the gruesome dishes on offer she announcing she'd only gone plant-based since March.

One viewer tweeted: "Being a vegan is cheating on an eating challenge in I'm A Celeb surely!!?? "Fermented plums and tofu against testicles and penis?"

But fellow contestant Vernon Kay stuck up for her and said her dish of fermented tofu smelled far worse that the one he had.
