I'm A Celebrity's Ant McPartlin makes savage 'snake' digs at Matt Hancock during Trial

Ant McPartlin got a little political dig in on this evening's episode of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The cheeky presenter, 46, couldn't resist poking fun at controversial contestant Matt Hancock during the disgraced former health secretary's latest Bushtucker Trial.

Mr Hancock's decision to leave his constituents in West Suffolk without an MP for up to three weeks has sparked fury across the country - with the Conservative Party suspending the whip from I'm A Celebrity participant once his stint on the ITV show was confirmed.

In tonight's show, viewers watched as the politician tried to win some all-important stars for his campmates as he took on the Tentacles of Terror Bushtucker Trial.

Before being trapped inside a cage partially submerged underwater water - at the risk of encountering several creepy crawlies - Mr Hancock admitted he had a fear of snakes.

Introducing the Trial to viewers watching at home, Ant explained how Mr Hancock "didn't want any trouble with number 10", referring to the boxes featured in the challenge.

"Bit late for that isn't it Risihi?" Dec cheekily quipped, alluding to 10 Downing Street.

"Evening Prime Minister," the cheeky presenter added - a nod to his and Ant's infamous jibes towards former prime minister Boris Johnson during last year's series of I'm A Celebrity.

As Mr Hancock began his watery task, Ant asked him: "You must have met a few snakes in your time in Westminster."

Mid-way through collecting a star the sitting MP responded: "Ha ha… I see what you did there."

"Shall we laugh afterwards?"

Ant and Dec didn't stop there.

The pair went on to make plenty more political jokes throughout the terrifying challenge - including claiming Mr Hancock was a "typical politician who doesn't listen to the electorate".

As Mr Hancock seemed to ignore the duo at one point during the Trial, Dec quipped: "He's ducking the question, typical politician!"

Mr Hancock - who earns £84,144 as a sitting MP - was forced to resign as health secretary in June 2021 after breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules by conducting an affair in his ministerial office with aide Gina Coladangelo while social distancing rules were in place.

Ant and Dec are no strangers to getting political on the ITV show over the years.

During last year's series, the cheeky Geordie duo making a number of cheeky quips about former Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson as the show aired in Wales towards the end of 2021.

Ant and Dec did not hold back with their mockery of the then-prime minister as revelations about Downing Street's alleged 'partygate' came out during last year's series at Gwrych Castle in north Wales.

Many of the sarcastic skits included Dec mimicking Mr Johnson when he lost his place during a speech at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in South Shields and Ant joking about how the celebrities voted for a new camp leader but categorically did not have a party.

Mr Hancock's latest Bushtucker Trial comes as a pal of former I'm A Celebrity star Olivia Attwood claims the politician has had a lucky escape not meeting the former Love Island star in the jungle.

A source close to the star has mused how the former Love Islander, 31, would have 'gutted' the disgraced Tory MP 'like a fish' had she been in the jungle alongside the controversial politician.
