I’m A Celebrity receives first Ofcom complaints after Jordan North vomits

The launch show of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! received 79 Ofcom complaints as contestants headed to their camp.

Over 12 million people watched the first episode of the series that saw this year's cohort of stars confront cockroaches, crickets, mealworms and maggots.

The episode also saw the group completing an abseiling challenge in order to get rucksacks containing kit.

The stars were split into two groups as they were introduced to each other - with Vernon Kay, actress Jessica Plummer, Jordan, podcast host Giovanna Fletcher and Victoria Derbyshire being taken to the top of a rockface.

Shane Richie, actress Beverley Callard, dancer AJ Pritchard, Sir Mo and Paralympian Hollie Arnold were dropped off at the bottom.

Celebrities at the top of the cliff were then paired with a campmate at the bottom and they had to work together to abseil down the cliff, with the group having to retrieve 10 rucksacks in total.

The rucksacks were padlocked to the cliff, and in order to free the bags, the celebrities had to answer numerical-based questions about their fellow campmates.

But Jordan was sick before having to do the challenge.

He said: "I can't believe I was sick, I've only been here five minutes and I'm puking up already."

According to Ofcom, 79 people contacted the regulator over the series debut, with 37 of the complaints regarding the scenes of vomiting.

A statement from Ofcom read: "Ofcom has received a total of 79 complaints for last night’s I’m a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here! of which 37 related to scenes of Jordan vomiting and 18 related to non-specific animal welfare."

When contacted by Daily Star Online, ITV had no comment to add. The ECHO has also approached ITV for comment.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues on ITV.
