I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec respond to fan's anger that highlight show 'ruined' Saturday night

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! fans have been left fuming at ITV bosses for showing a recap episode on Saturday night.

Some viewers claim their Saturday night had been ‘ruined’ and even vented their frustration at hosts Ant and Dec on social media, Chronicle Live reports.

The choice in broadcast sparked a Twitter furore and many shared their frustration at the highlights show being aired instead of more live action from the jungle.

Presenters Ant and Dec addressed the backlash right from the off as they returned to host last night's live show.

Dec began: "We've got a bumper 75 minute show for you, completely live and without a highlights package in sight."

Ant then said: "Thanks for all your messages about last night's pre-recorded highlights show," before Dec interrupted: "It wasn't just highlights though, there was loads of unseen footage!"

Ant added: "We really appreciate the feedback, although, I should point out, medically I can't do that to myself."

Viewers watching Sunday's show appreciated Ant and Dec for not burying the uproar under the carpet, with one tweeting: "love how Ant & Dec addressed how we all hated the highlight episode," and another posting: "Hahahaha Ant & Dec addressing the big elephant in the room"

Among the comments from Twitter fans included this one: "Was soooo looking forward to #ImACeleb tonight & it’s just a recap show?!?!? It’s Saturday night! Where is the trials, bugs & drama?!"

Echoing those sentiments, another tweeted: "What a total let down! No live show?? Old footage of a week we've just watched?? What's going on? Time to turn off," and a third reacted: "what a terrible decision. Catch up show!!

"Just when we all need entertaining. Bad bad decision. One viewer lost here."
