I'm A Celebrity finally returns to Australia and has 'most elaborate' launch to date

The highly-anticipated new series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is almost upon us, with the stars' entrances promising to be some of "the largest and most elaborate" to date.

Kicking off the series in style, five campers arrive at a stunning waterside villa in the sun-drenched Gold Coast, after being whisked away from their normal lives in a luxury car.

Radio legend Chris Moyles, journalist Charlene White, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé, England Lioness Jill Scott MBE and Love Island star Olivia Attwood finally come together and nervously wait for their Jungle journey to begin.

Meanwhile, pop icon Boy George, ex-England Rugby Player Mike Tindall MBE, TV presenter Scarlette Douglas, Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver all meet at a marina to deliberate what could happen next.

Enter hosts Ant and Dec on a speedboat, who tell the celebrities that the public have been voting for who they want to name Jungle VIPs and who they want to see have the toughest journey into camp.

Those not chosen as a VIP will face the first trial of the series.

Babatúndé, Jill and Charlene are then taken away to participate in the infamous plank challenge - with a twist.

The plank challenge has had a dramatic makeover for this series, returning as The Ledge.

Campmates must walk to the edge of the wobbling plank and, once everyone is in position, take a step forward onto the ledge where they are left leaning forward and facing down the dizzying 334 foot drop to the ground.

The celebrities have to hold the position for one minute.

At the end of 60 seconds, they must let go of the rope that supports them and plunge from their perch in order to each win a coveted star.

Elsewhere, Olivia and Chris have to take on the classic skydive entrance. TV personality Olivia is up first and it's up to Chris to follow suit.

The rest of the campmates - Mike, Sue and Owen - face a terrifying boat trip like no other on their way into camp.

Three stars are locked onto the mast of the boat, called the Critter Cruise. Each celebrity must undertake a challenge to unlock one of the coveted stars.

Mike is first up. He has to get into the water and pop up inside an upturned boat.

Once inside, he finds letters that correlate to numbers. The athlete must figure out the correct code to pass back to his teammates to unlock his star, but will he be successful?

Sue’s challenge sees her face the bait shack. Here three holes are filled with a whole host of critters.

Inside, she must search for the fish eyes. Count them up and she’ll earn her code to open her padlock and win her star.

Meanwhile, Owen must get straight into the action, taking on a blocked pipe.

If he can ignore the bugs and grime and remove the bolts, he’ll unlock the grate and find the Allen keys which help him release his code and get his padlock open.

Only time will tell who can conquer their fears and who will shout the first I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Sunday 6 th November at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
