I'm A Celebrity final delayed because of Boris Johnson's TV address

Viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! faced a delay in watching the reality show's final - because of the Prime Minister's televised speech about Covid.

The start of I’m A Celebrity 2021's finale was pushed back by 10 minutes because of Boris Johnson’s pre-recorded address to the nation on Sunday evening (December 12).

The almost two-hour-long episode was due to begin at 9pm.

The ITV show said on Twitter: “We’re on in 5! Just got pushed back a little bit by Downing Street.”

Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson and Emmerdale actor Danny Miller made the final, competing to be crowned the king or queen of the castle.

The three finalists faced challenges alone in a bid to win a last dinner together, with Emmerdale actor Danny Miller trying to win starters, Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson aiming to secure main courses and Saturdays star Frankie Bridge on desserts.

Miller was first up and his challenge involved wearing a large transparent helmet which was filled with “castle critters” including cockroaches, beetles, mealworms and earthworms every two minutes, with every two minutes he endured earning a star. The actor lasted the full 10 minutes.
