I’m a Celebrity fans compare Vernon Kay’s hilarious shower scene with Buddy the Elf

Viewers were left in stitches after last night’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

While yesterday’s (16 November) instalment was packed full of humorous moments – including Mo Farah falling out of his hammock and Jordan North confronting his fear of snakes in his first-ever Bushtucker trial – it was Vernon Kay who had viewers chuckling the most.

The scene in question saw the TV presenter using the new shower in Gwrych Castle. However, Kay’s 6ft 3in frame proved to be an obstacle, with his head and shoulders towering over the shower’s grubby makeshift curtain.

Viewers were quick to compare Kay’s predicament with a scene from the hit Christmas movie Elf. The 2003 film sees Will Ferrell – also tall at 6ft 2in – as Buddy the Elf, attempting to shower in a similarly small shower.

Host Ant McPartlin also chimed in, joking: “Doesn’t he remind you of Buddy the Elf?”

Twitter users circulated the joke on social media. One fan wrote: “Started I’m a Celeb late but my god Vernon Kay looks like buddy the elf in that shower.”

Another shared an image of the Elf scene with Kay’s face photoshopped over Ferrell’s, accompanied with a caption, reading: “ I can’t stop thinking about Vernon Kay as Buddy the Elf.”

Showering is one of many hardships the stars are facing on set for I’m a Celeb. The shower is a two-person job, with a second person needed to work the water pump on the other side of the bathroom.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
