I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! producers are considering whether to have the show return to Wales for another series.
The final of this year’s show, which was set at a derelict castle in north Wales rather than the Australian jungle, saw more than 10 million viewers tune in to see Giovanna Fletcher crowned Queen of the Jungle.
On Friday 4 December, executive producer Richard Cowles said that the team has “learnt a lot”.
“Australia has been I’m A Celebrity’s natural home and the Welsh version was born out of necessity rather than choice, but we’ve learnt a lot and so maybe there is a UK incarnation of the show,” he told TV industry magazine Broadcast Now.
“We will look at what being in Wales means for the format going forward. Is it something we would want to do again, or do we want to return to Australia?”
He added: “It has been a different [type of show] because the environment is different, but it is absolutely as good as ever in terms of what audiences see on screen.”
Cowles also revealed that the idea of …Get Me Out of Here! shows being set at a castle in Europe had caught the interest of other TV channels around the world, as it would be cheaper to film than Australia.
Plans are reportedly already underway on next year’s series, with celebrities scheduled to be signed up from February 2021.
