I’m a Celebrity could be filmed at spooky Scottish castle if coronavirus rules out Australia

ITV chiefs are planning to move filming of this year’s I’m a Celebrity to a spooky Scottish castle if coronavirus continues to flare up across Australia.

Bosses are determined to ensure the 20th running of the hit series, fronted by Ant and Dec, goes ahead.

The Mirror reports how one source said: “Having I’m a Celebrity in November is a huge priority. A dark, cold and spooky version of the show would be good fun – it would certainly be different.

“A decision needs to be made next month – in the meantime, the team is looking at stately homes, castles in remote areas of Scotland and England. Everyone hopes to get back to Australia but they are struggling with flare-ups resulting in second lockdowns.”

The series, which launched in 2002, pulled in audiences of up to 10 million last year and is seen as crucial to ITV’s fortunes after advertising halved during the pandemic.

Bosses believe if the long-running show does have to be filmed in the UK it will at least make it memorable - in the same way that it got bumper ratings when Holly Willoughby stood in for Ant McPartlin in 2018.
