I'm a Celebrity contestants horrified by 'minging' toilets

It's their new home for the next three weeks and the washroom facilities cause immediate concern for the campmates on I'm A Celebrity.

The celebs look stunned by the state of the bathroom as they arrive at Gwrych Castle in Abergele.

This year a new batch of celebs are swapping New South Wales, Australia for north Wales - and they've got a makeshift loo in a historic castle instead of the outdoor dunny.

The toilets are described as 'basic' and 'minging' as the campers have a look around their new surroundings on tonight's launch show.

Radio One DJ Jordan North complains: "I've never seen a more ... basic is putting it nicely ... horrific bathroom."

And Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard says: "The washroom.  First of all it's minging.

"It needs a really good clean.  Well I'm sorry but no."

She adds: "My hair. I will look like I've had Donald Trump's hairdresser."

Nevertheless the celebs are still in awe of living in a real castle on the reality show.

"It's actually a castle," says TV presenter Vernon Kay.

And Jordan says: "This is actually a proper castle.”

Former EastEnders actor Shane Richie jokes: "Who knows where the fridge is and the bar?"

The sleeping quarters also prove to be unsatisfactory.

BBC journalist Victoria Derbyshire lays down on one of the rusty, damp beds and says: "It's as hard as nails."

And as Shane gets onto a hammock he immediately falls out the other side.

The 19th century Grade I-listed castle has been transformed for the programme, and the campmates will need to use a wood splitter to chop logs for a campfire to keep warm.

The celebrities will face challenges in the castle crypt as the show gets underway tonight at 9pm on ITV.
