It seems that escaping the Australian outback won’t save this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestants from extreme weather.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ITV competition has been relocated to Gwyrch castle in Abergele, north Wales.

According to Welsh weather reporter Ruth Dodson – who appeared on This Morning – the stars can expect “gale winds” and “thundering downpours” on their first weekend away from home.

Dodson told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: “I think the best way of putting it is a wet, warm welcome awaits our celebs.”

She joked: “The weather, well what can I say? It’s going to be, frankly, miserable. See I’m smiling when I say it just to hide the pain, really.”

“Can you believe the MET Office is even looking at issuing a weather warning for strong winds?” she said. “It could be gale winds of over 50 miles an hour this weekend.”

The weather reporter laughed: “What can I say apart from ‘sorry!'”

The 10 celebrities – including Eastenders star Shane Richie, Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah, and award-winning journalist Victoria Derbyshire – will be making their on-screen debut this weekend.

Earlier today, a new set of photos were released showing the dire accommodations that the celebrities will be shacking up in.

Inside the camp, the contestants will have to fight between themselves to see who gets to sleep in one of the two hammocks, with the rest sleeping on bare single beds.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! starts Sunday 15 November at 8pm on ITV.
