I'm A Celebrity cliff location in rural North Wales revealed

The exact location of the cliff the celebrities abseiled down on the opening episode of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here on Sunday night has been revealed.

The celebs were dropped off at the top of the cliff and then had to abseil down to get their bags, before they headed to Gwrych Castle, where this year's series will take place.

The challenge offered incredible scenery of the region, leaving viewers wondering where it was filmed.

ITV didn't reveal the location in the first episode, but it's since been uncovered locally, reports North Wales Live

There was initially speculation that the scenes were shot in Snowdonia, but this wasn't the case.

The abseil was actually set against the backdrop of Penmon, a village near Beaumaris on Anglesey.

It seems that the celebrities faced the challenge in the historic Flagstaff Quarry along the island's coast.

The quarry has been a source of limestone since the 16th Century and was still in use in the early 1900s.

Along with others in Penmon, it provided stone for important structures including Birmingham Town Hall.

Limestone from the area was also used to construct the two bridges that cross the nearby Menai Strait.

The strait is visible from the peak of the quarry, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Viewers could also see Puffin Island and its lighthouse in the background, as they're just over a mile away.

The celebrities were in awe of the scenery from the local village of Penmon, including Jessica Plummer.

The former Eastenders actress said: "Look at this, it's stunning. I wish I had my phone to take a picture."

Following the cliff abseil, the 10 celebrities were finally taken to camp at the castle.

This is where they'll spend the next three weeks, though it's possible they'll venture out for other challenges.
