I'm A Celebrity castle set for 'weather warning' with deluge of rain and heavy winds forecast

The contestants on this year's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here look set for a bleak start to life in Wales with a weather warning on the horizon for the area.

In a huge change for 2020, the award-winning ITV show has swapped locations from the Australian jungle to a Welsh castle this time after the coronavirus pandemic threw a huge spanner in the works.

Lockdown restrictions in various parts of Wales also threatened to derail the new series of I'm A Celebrity but, after a frantic few months, Ant and Dec will host the first episode from Gwrych Castle on Sunday night.

And the Geordie duo might need their umbrellas and raincoats whilst on air as the weather forecast for the Abergele area is not looking promising to say the least for the next few days.

I'm A Celebrity was big talking point on Friday's This Morning and hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford crossed to the ITV weather centre in Cardiff where they spoke to Ruth Dodsworth.

And Ruth gave them a bleak outlook for the celebrities heading into the castle this weekend, telling them: "They'll get a wet, windy warm Welsh welcome.

"The weather is looking, quite frankly, miserable!

"The castle will be buried under a deluge of blues and greens with heavy rain, thundery downpours and, can you believe it, the Met Office are even looking at issuing a weather warning for strong winds.

"We could see gales, winds of over 50pmh over the weekend. We're not doing it on purpose I promise!

"Bright days means we could well see frost at night - who wants to be stuck in a castle with frost?!"

Reacting to Ruth's forecast, Ruth Langsford quipped: "Wonder what it's like in Australia?"
