I'm A Celebrity bosses to stop flying out friends and family in drastic bid to cut costs

It's being reported that I'm A Celebrity bosses have been forced into making a drastic change to the show this year in a bid to save money.

The programme, which usually starts in November, is, as things stand, thought to be going ahead, with big names like Connor McGregor and Carole Baskin rumoured to be in the I'm A Celebrity line-up this year.

But whoever goes in may not have anyone to welcome them when they leave the jungle. Campmates' walk along the the rope bridge to be reunited with their loved ones after being voted out is one of the most famous and heartwarming bits of the programme but, according to The Sun, I'm A Celebrity bosses won't be flying friends and family out this year.

And their decision is said to be all down to trying to save money, after ITV reported a severe drop in advertising revenue due to coronavirus.

A source told The Sun: "Having no friends or family flown out will be a big blow to celebrities.

Producers have even involved them in recent years by taking them into the jungle in the final days to create heartfelt scenes.

'There are early plans to film video calls to capture celebs having their first chats with loved ones.'

It is thought that the cost of flying campmates' loved ones out to Australia and shelling out for them to stay at the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast costs ITV around £100,000.
