I'm A Celebrity bosses spend millions on turning Gwrych Castle into its Welsh camp

Millions are being spent renovating the derelict Welsh castle where I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is being filmed, including on the installation of a roof for the celebrities to sleep under.

Gwyrch Castle has reportedly been hired for more than £1million for six weeks and work is well underway into transforming it into an alternative to the Australian jungle.

As well as the roof, ITV producers have also had to install pipes for running water and to make sure there are electrics.

Before it had even been announced as the location, builders had to be called in for emergency works to fix structural concerns and “vertical cracking” in the old building.

The campfire will be place in an unsheltered part of the castle, that is near Abergele.

A source told The Sun : "This isn’t a holiday camp for the stars, but without a roof, everyone would have been utterly miserable for three weeks, which would not make great telly."

They added that it would be hard work but will make it bearable for the celebrities if it snows when the show goes out in November.

The insider also said that ITV were keen for viewers to be able to recognise the show.

Meanwhile, another studio has also been constructed for Ant and Dec to host the show.

Usually the duo would present I'm A Celeb on a set constructed in the jungle trees, but this time they might be perched on a turret as they overlook the celebrities.

So far, the celebrities rumoured to be taking part are Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard, EastEnders' Jake Wood, Eamonn Holmes and Keith Duffy.
