I'm A Celebrity bosses 'furiously scrambling' to save series as stars placed in lockdown

I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here bosses are said to be 'furiously scrambling' to make the new series happen after tighter restrictions put some of this year's rumoured line-up in lockdown.

At the weekend it was reported that urgent talks were happening as to what will happen with the show this year after it was placed in 'crisis' by fears of a national lockdown looming.

But now the prognosis for the series of I'm A Celebrity, the first ever to be held in Wales, looks even more bleak after the country's First Minister Mark Drakeford announced people from England's Tier 2 and 3 areas will not be allowed to cross the border into Wales.

Among the UK areas now in tier 2 are London, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle, while Liverpool is in tier 3, along with Lancashire.

And that means that potential contestants for the I'm A Celebrity 2020 line-up, including the likes of EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite and ex Strictly pro AJ Pritchard, could be ruled out as they will be banned from going into Wales.

An insider told The Sun : "ITV bosses are working hard to get the show to air and there have been a lot of meetings behind the scenes on how they can make things work.

"They're determined for the show to go ahead, as long as it's safe."

Other names linked to I'm A Celebrity, which was last year won by Jacqueline Jossa, include Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard, Love Island star Tommy Fury and Good Morning Britain and Lorraine's roving reporter Andi Peters.
