I'm a Celebrity: Adele Roberts becomes first contestant to leave after losing public vote

Broadcaster Adele Roberts has become the first contestant to leave this year’s instalment of ITV reality series I’m a Celebrity.

The Radio 1 host, who survived 14 days on the show, was voted out after failing to win immunity from eviction in a Bushtucker Trial.

The other celebrities up for eviction were Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, comedian Andrew Maxwell, broadcasters Kate Garraway and Roman Kemp, and soap actors Cliff Parisi, Jacqueline Jossa and Andy Whyment.

After leaving the jungle, Roberts told hosts Ant and Dec: “I am just amazed that I lasted that long.

“I’m just so glad I finished my time in the jungle with saying I’m a Celebrity... Get Me out of Here! because I thought I was going to say it so many times. At least I am first at something.”

Asked why she signed up as a campmate, she said: “Just to challenge myself and stop being scared of doing things.”

She added: “I’m stronger than I realised, there’s so many things I can do, I’ve faced a lot.”

Due to what Ant and Dec called a “wording error” on the show’s app, only votes made by phone counted towards the result.

I’m a Celebrity continues on Saturday at 9pm on ITV1.
