I'm a Celebrity 2021 line up revealed with Emmerdale star and two Leeds legends heading into Welsh castle

This year's I'm a Celebrity line-up has been confirmed and this year has been no exception in terms of the usual rumour mill.

And it seems a lot of the gossip was true with celebrities now confirmed.

Amongst them, there's some pretty familiar names for us Leeds folk including Olympian Matty Lee and Paralympian Kadeena Cox.

Like last year, the much loved reality TV show will be swapping its famous Australian jungle for a Welsh castle.

So who has made the cut?

For our Yorkshire stars, we have three - Emmerdale legend Danny Miller is set for the castle alongside Matty Lee and Kadeena Cox.

Matty Lee

The British diver and Olympic gold medal winner found fame with his diving partner Tom Daley and whilst he's faced the tough challenge of the Tokyo Olympics, he's said he was 'in shock' at appearing on the reality show.

Matty Lee (ITV)

As news of the Leeds star entering was confirmed, Matty said: “Nothing ever prepares you for what life will be like after you do well in the Olympics.

"I was and still am mainly in shock that I am doing I’m A Celebrity. My two childhood dreams were to win an Olympic medal and take part in my favourite TV series. And now I am doing both this year!"

He's said that Tom Daley has been giving him advice, adding: “I trained for the Olympics and knew what to expect.

"I haven’t eaten animal do da before and so it is going to be tough! I am excited for it all though and doing this programme really is the cherry on the cake.”

He's said he's a certain to scream and is terrified of rats.

Kadeena Cox (ITV)

Kadeena Cox

The Leeds born Paralympian has said that appearing on the show is something very much out of her comfort zone.

The athlete who has competed in both sprint and para-cycling, said: “Going on I’m A Celebrity is something so different for me and it’s completely out of my comfort zone.

“As a Paralympian, you are always trying to get that one per cent extra all the time and defending my title earlier this year in Tokyo was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but I think going into the Castle is going to be far harder mentally.

Kadeena has shared her dislike for spiders, rats and snakes as well as heights.

However she's hoping the athlete in her will help her overcome the challenges.

Danny Miller (ITV)

Danny Miller

The Emmerdale star has already admitted that the choice to enter the reality show was one that he found incredibly difficult.

As he enters the castle, it will be his first time leaving his new-born baby.

Danny has played Aaron Dingle on and off for 13 years now and so fans will be delighted to see his well-known face make an entrance.

He said of his decision: "And so after lots of discussions, I’ve said yes! I’m A Celebrity is the biggest show in the country and I want to show people what I am like as Danny rather than as Aaron.

"It will be nice for people to see me not crying but having a laugh! I am a fun guy at home and I’ve been known as Aaron now for 13 years – it’s good to step outside your comfort zone.”

As for the other contestants, they make an impressive list:

Arlene Phillips (ITV)

Arlene Phillips

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene, 78, is set to be the show’s oldest contestant – a record previously held by Harry Redknapp when he took part aged 77.

It's her first big TV job since the BBC sacked her from Strictly in 2009 and she's said of her decision to go on the show: "I still can’t believe I am doing it either but I love and admire everybody who has done the show, I admire their bravery and I have spoken to so many people who have done it.

"Everyone has loved the experience and told me how it has added something new to their lives and that is why I have said yes this year after being approached before.”

David Ginola (ITV)

David Ginola

The 54-year-old Frenchman played for Premier League clubs Newcastle United, Tottenham and Aston Villa as a well as Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.

In May 2016 while playing a charity football match David collapsed due to a cardiac arrest and subsequently fell into a coma. He swallowed his tongue and stopped breathing, leaving him clinically dead until paramedics arrived with a defibrillator.

Surgeons performed a six-hour quadruple bypass to save his life.

He said that when he was offered a chance to appear on I'm a Celebrity, his response was 'why not'.

He believes he'll be the chef in camp and said: "Because we have been in lockdown many times over the past two years, being locked in a Castle for I’m A Celebrity won’t be an issue for me.”

Frankie Bridge (ITV)

Frankie Bridge

Singer turned TV star Frankie is the wife of former Chelsea footballer Wayne - who took part in the show in 2016 and finished fifth.

She's best known for being part of girl group The Saturdays and was also a member of S Club 8.

Frankie has admitted she's scared of spiders, rats and confined spaces and said of appearing on the show: "“I’m scared of rats, I am a fussy eater and I have a bit of a phobia of ketchup, so a pint of penis terrifies me!

"Any of the eating challenges will be my idea of hell.

"I also hate spiders in my own home, being trapped in small spaces is a big thing for me and pretty much all of that is likely to happen which makes me go, ‘Why the hell are you doing it?’

"And so that is exactly why I am doing it!”

Richard Madeley (ITV)

Richard Madeley

The man dubbed the real life Alan Partridge (and alleged lesser half of Richard and Judy) is rumoured to have agreed a £200,000 deal to appeal on the show.

Richard has caused a stir recently, presenting Good Morning Britain.

Richard said of his entrance into the castle: “Up until now, I’ve always been perfectly happy watching as a viewer but recently, I realised I’m A Celebrity is no longer just a TV programme.

"It’s become part of the fabric of British life and part of the countdown to Christmas. It suddenly hit me that everyone talks about it the next day and I suddenly wondered what it would be like to be there rather than watching.

"I realised the time had come to experience it."

Louise Minchin (ITV)

Louise Minchin

Louise is pretty much a household name and has only just left her job presenting BBC Breakfast in September after a glittering 20-year career.

“Going on I’m A Celebrity is a big adventure,” says 53-year-old Louise. “It is very different to sitting on the BBC Breakfast sofa and it will be scary and daunting but it will also be lots of fun."

Speaking about her former BBC Breakfast host, Sheffield's Dan Walker, she said: "I didn’t tell Dan Walker I was doing I’m A Celebrity before coming to Wales but I don’t think he will be surprised!

"He knows me well and I think he will be both excited and nervous for me. I have been voting for him on Strictly so fingers crossed he will vote for me a lot.”

Naughty Boy (ITV)

Naughty Boy

Music producer Naughty Boy is known for his collaborations with stars such as Beyonce, Sam Smith and Emeli Sande but he wants to appear on the show to show viewers what he is really like as a person.

He said: “I am excited about going on I’m A Celebrity now. I want people to know the real me.

"I am not a celebrity at all.

"My music is the celebrity and now is the chance for me to show people what I am really like.”

He's shared some of his worries upon entering the castle, revealing he's scared of both confined spaces and scared of heights.

Snoochie Shy (ITV)

Snoochie Shy

Radio 1 Extra host Snoochie Shy is a model, brand ambassador, presenter as well as a DJ.

She's said that she's terrified of bugs and heights and is also clautrophobic.

She's dubbed herself a big 'scaredy cat' and said: "I am actually quite a shy person when I am outside my comfort zone.

“I think my shy side might come out and I might be quite shy in the first couple of days but I also will definitely be a team player.

"I want to show everyone how to twerk too!”

Earlier this year she appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside radio legend and journalist Jeremy Vine.
