I'm A Celebrity 2020: Rumoured line up amid speculation the ITV series could move from Australia to Scotland

Television bosses are reportedly working on a plan to relocate this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here to Scotland if the coronavirus pandemic means it can't go ahead in Australia.

Show chiefs are investigating alternative sites to stage this year's 20th series of the programme in case the usual jungle setting is judged off-limits.

It has also been reported that TV and radio presenter Vernon Kay, 46, has been signed up to take part in a £250,000 deal.

Other rumoured contestants include Matt Baker, Strictly's AJ Pritchard, former footballer Eric Cantona and Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard.

But it might not be Australia that they are heading to. Parts of the country are in lockdown after a second wave of the virus hit Melbourne.

Case numbers across Victoria continue to rise - with another 238 infections reported today. More than 2,300 cases - a fifth of the national total - have been found there in the past two weeks.

According to reports, ITV bosses are desperate for the ratings-winner, fronted by Ant and Dec, to go ahead as usual, having already seen advertising revenues slashed during the pandemic.

One source told MirrorOnline: "Having I'm a Celebrity for three weeks in November is seen as a huge priority.

"Everyone hopes to get back to Australia but over there they are struggling massively with flare-ups resulting in second lock-downs. It simply may not be possible because of safety."

The source went on: "A decision needs to be made next month - in the meantime, the team is looking at stately homes, castles, mansions in remote areas of Scotland and England to see if we could stage it here.

"A dark, cold and spooky version of the show would be good fun - it would certainly be different."

The series, which launched in 2002, is one of ITV's biggest hits, pulling in audiences of up to 10million last year.
