I'm a Celebrity 2019 viewers want Holly Willoughby back as ratings plummet

Fans of I’m A Celebrity are pleading for TV presenter Holly Willoughby to make a return to the jungle.

Viewers have made online pleas for the This Morning host to return to present the show after ratings for the programme plummeted, according to the Mirror.

Holly replaced Ant McPartlin, 44, when she hosted I’m A Celeb alongside Declan Donnelly last year after Ant took a year off TV following a shock drink-drive crash.

She was a hit when she and Dec teamed up for the Harry Redknapp-winning series with I’m A Celeb reaching it’s highest viewing figures of all time - pulling in over 14 million viewers and a consistent 12.2 million throughout it’s run.

In contrast, the 2019 series opened with 11.9million viewers - and has since lost over five million as ratings nose dived ahead of the live final on Sunday night.

But it seems as if demands for Holly to make a return are falling on deaf ears.

I’m A Celeb bosses have reportedly refused to even entertain the idea she could become a permanent replacement for Ant.

“Producers like having Ant and Dec back together,” said a source to the Daily Star Sunday.

“Even with the ratings going down, they are still confident that the lads are the best -presenters for the show,” the source continued.

Then, truly destroying all hopes and dreams, the source said: “That means they won’t be bringing Holly back.”

Viewers have been taking to Twitter to demand Holly’s return - with some suggesting the magic between Ant and Dec has gone in the aftermath of his conviction.

“Do you know what I despise most about #ImACeleb this year? ...the fake, scripted and a little bit awkward “comedy” between Ant and Dec. Bring @hollywills back... can we start that campaign yet?” one fan tweeted.

While another wrote: “Am I the only one that preferred Holly Willoughby hosting.”

“They should do a year of I’m A Celeb but put Ant & Dec in the camp and get Philip Schofield & Holly Willoughby to present,” one fan suggested.
