I'm A Celebrity 2019: Fears show could be cancelled due to huge bush fires in Australia

I'm A Celebrity show bosses are "closely monitoring" whether they need to evacuate from the jungle site in the next few days after huge bush fires broke out just 10km away from the jungle site.

At least three people are known to have died and thousands have been displaced by the weekend's bushfires.

Yesterday (November 10), more than 100 blazes were still burning across the area I'm A Celebrity is filmed in, which is across New South Wales and Queensland, Mirror Online reports.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has issued a warning saying the military could be called upon to support the 1,300 firefighters working in the two states.

The reality show is due to start this weekend and producers say they are in "constant contact" with the fire service in Australia and are closely monitoring the situation.

The deputy mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry recently spoke about the hot weather in the area of Murwillumbah, where the I'm A Celeb show is based.

She said: "Our main concern for the area is bush fires. It has been very hot and dry here in the past few months and although this is a rain forest area, bush fires are now an issue we need to seriously think about. It's bad."

Wildfires burn on Australia's east coast

Firefighters are desperately trying to control the devastating bushfires - a 'danger day' of weather forecast for tomorrow (November 12) has also been issued, forcing the Rural Fire Service to issue the dire warning that "lives will be at risk".

There are currently dozens of crew on the I'm A Celebrity site and they also use members of the public for run-throughs of the programme in camp to test the cameras. Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec also visit the site regularly.

The celebrity contestants are due in camp by the weekend. At this time it is not known how long the threat of bush fires in the area remains.

There have been fires in recent days closeby to the site at Lamington National Park, around 10 kilometres away.

An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: "We are in constant contact with the NSW fire brigade and are closely monitoring the situation. We currently have no cause for concern.

"The health and safety of all our production crew and celebrities are of the utmost importance."
