I'm A Celeb star Giovanna Fletcher's brother says he's 'on the mend' after surgery

Giovanna Fletcher's brother Mario Falcone has revealed he is "on the mend" after undergoing a mystery operation last week.

While his sister competes in this year's I'm A Celebrity, Mario was rushed into hospital in recent days.

The former TOWIE star, 32, worried his fans as he shared snaps from his bed on social media.

However it seems he is on the road to recovery after the surgery, as he told OK! magazine: "On the mend, slowly. Still very uncomfortable but, yeah, just [taking things] day by day."

The dad-of-one also revealed he has been watching Giovanna on the reality show and it's helped him get through.

Mario added: "I'm still in pain but home now so will watch while I'm trying to rest. When I was in hospital I got to watch her every night as well which helped."

The star alerted his followers that he was in hospital by posting a snap of his hand doing a thumbs down sign while connected to a drip, which read: "Feel like poo but get to go home soon."

He didn't say why he was in hospital, but went on to share a snap of his TV screen while he caught up on I'm A Celeb.

The doting dad also opened up on how he has taught his son Parker the importance of speaking out about mental health issues.

He believes it's his job to inform and educate his two-year-old son about how to cope with emotions.

Mario is determined to end the stigma attached to mental health issues.

The reality star has collaborated with Mood Bears in an attempt to make young children feel comfortable to talk openly about how they are feeling.

He said: "I think the Mood Bears are a fantastic way of doing that from a young age. It teaches them, in a fun way, about their emotions and encourages them to talk."

Mario and his sister are very close after she saved his life when he tried to attempt suicide in the past.

He has vowed to be open about his personal struggles with Parker and hopes his son will take his life advice on board when he grows up.

Mario hopes his son will open up to him with confidence should he need to.
