I'm A Celeb star fumes Matt Hancock should apologise to his wife - not enjoy free holiday

He might have won a place in the final four of I'm A Celebrity, but Matt Hancock certainly hasn't won over his critics just yet.

Among those unimpressed by the disgraced former Health Secretary's jungle stint - which has seen him suspended from the Tory whip - includes a former I'm A Celebrity runner-up.

In fact, they suggest that he should be at home apologising to his wife instead of "enjoying a free holiday".

Jennie Bond, who appeared in the 2004 series, has said that he should be begging his children and constituents for forgiveness instead of begging for votes in order to improve his flourishing reality TV career.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "You know, he should be probably asking his wife and his children and his constituents for forgiveness, not people in the jungle and the public at large."

She added that she "doesn't buy his act", nor his "plea for forgiveness".

Explaining that she hadn't wanted him to go into the jungle in the first place because it was too much of a "prize reward", Jennie continued: "He would to swan out of there straight into the luxury hotel, into the arms of his lover and have a lovely free holiday."

Jennie said that she felt it was time he went now and that when it was first announced that he was going in she "thought this is insane" and that he "cannot surely take his salary as a politician, as an MP".

She added: "Whatever it is that he's being paid. It's entirely wrong. He should be serving his constituents."

The ex-Health Sec stepped down from his role in June 2021 after he was exposed for breaking the very same social distancing rules that he had in part set in law.

The affair was exposed after Hancock was caught on CCTV canoodling with his aide Gina Coladangelo.

It is believed that the images were leaked by an insider at the Department of Health on May 6, 2021.

At the time, both Hancock and Coladangelo were married with children.

It comes after the MP defied the odds to make it to the final four, knocking out the likes of Boy George, Chris Moyles and Seann Walsh to the top.

During Friday's instalment of the ITV show, comedian Seann, 36, became the seventh star to be eliminated from the jungle as the grand finale on Sunday inches ever closer.

As the result came in, Seann said his goodbyes, after Hancock expressed his surprise at remaining in the competition.

During his leaving interview with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, comedian Seann revealed what it was like entering camp with Hancock, saying how the former Health Secretary proved him wrong as he initially thought the MP would be the first to go.

Seann said: "I'll be honest with you, when I saw Matt I thought 'maybe you're not going out first'. But he was lovely, and he's still there for a reason. He was a lovely guy."
