Emily Atack has revealed that she was struggling to book acting jobs before she starred in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The actor – best known for portrayal as Charlotte Hinchliffe in The Inbetweeners – has opened up about her previous struggles with typecasting.
During an interview on Alison Hammond’s podcast My Life in TV, Atack said: “I’d been typecast as a blonde girl next door type. I was getting a bit older, things were getting a bit lower down.
“Those roles stopped coming in. I couldn’t play the sexy school girls anymore, the femme fatale sexy girl with the stockings on who seduces the male lead. It all dried up for me.”
In 2018, the 30-year-old entered the jungle for ITV’s reality series where she quickly became a fan favourite among I’m a Celeb viewers.

Before her stint on the hit series, however, Atack said that she had been going through a rough period, stating that she “had no money” and was “lost in life”.
She added: “In this industry, it’s easy to take things personally. I had no money and I was all heartbroken from a relationship. I was a bit lost in life."
“I felt I wasn’t getting the jobs I should have been getting, all the jobs I would have got three or four years earlier,” she said. “I really just hit a wall with everything. I thought, ‘I need some excitement in my life again, I need to pick it up.’”

She went on to say that she “felt a lot of rejection” during that time, but that “the jungle helped me overcome it”.
The actor certainly made her mark on I’m a Celeb, making it all the way to the final only to be one-upped by Harry Redknapp who was crowned 2018’s winner.
I’m a Celeb continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
