I'm A Celeb set damaged by Storm Arwen after live show cancelled for first time

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! faced difficulties as Storm Arwen caused damage to the set on Friday.

Images from Saturday morning show the damage that the extreme weather has caused to the set of the show.

A white tent has been blown down which would usually protect multiple trailers and vans for the production of the show and onlookers claimed all non-essential crew have been moved from the site to avoid the weather.

Friday's show had to be pre-recorded at Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to safety concerns with the celebrity contestants and hosts Ant and Dec.

This is the first time in the history of the show that it hasn't been filmed live.

Instead, Ant and Dec filmed their segments earlier on Friday afternoon in case the storm got worse., which is the first time in 19 years of the programme.

Sections of the roof from a tent had been blown away which exposed the below buildings and scaffolding to the rain.

Another tent had collapsed onto a vehicle which exposed metal poles.

The storm was meant to hit the local area where the show is filmed at around 9pm on Friday night which is when the show usually airs.

Due to this producers were concerned that the satellite link could be affected, meaning the show couldn't go out as usual.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline : "Tonight's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will be broadcast as a pre-recorded show rather than live due to the developing Storm Arwen and precautionary measures we're putting into place on production.

"Ant & Dec will record their links early evening and these will be played out during tonight's show. Our celebrities will remain inside the castle which is secure and we have contingencies in place to cover all weather scenarios to ensure the safety of our cast and crew."

Ant and Dec also posted the news to their Instagram page as they explained the situation in a video.

Dec said: "So you've probably heard we are having to record the show a bit earlier tonight because of the winds and Storm Arwen. It's bad, it's really windy isn't it, you can hear the wind rattling, so we have got to get it done now and get out of here.

"It's due to get worse later, so everybody is afraid that the satellite is going to go down and all of that so it's a bit risky to do a live show. So we will have to do it recorded tonight, that's the first time we've ever done that.

He then joked: "It's very very windy, and even worse for that it was lentils for lunch! So Ant is a bit windy as well!"

ITV have put contingency plans in place for such situations if they are to occur as they keep their celebrity contestants and crew safe.
