I'm A Celeb's Sue Cleaver didn't plan to discuss adoption but camp changed feelings

Sue Cleaver has revealed that she hadn't planned to discuss her adoption on I'm A Celebrity, saying that she opened up about it because she felt comfortable doing so.

The actor, 59 – best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street – was voted out of camp last night. She became the fourth celebrity to leave the ITV show – following Olivia Attwood's early exit.

Following her departure, Sue appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier to discuss her experience in the jungle. This included her recalling having spoken about her adoption.

She had opened up about it in camp. Sue told her fellow campmates that she had reconnected with her birth mother after a chance encounter in her twenties.

Sue said this morning that she hadn't planned to share the story in camp. Her admission came after co-host Richard Madeley, 66, asked her if that had been the case.

Asked if she planned to discuss it, she said: "No. I've been quite private. I've never spoken about that out of respect for everyone but I felt so comfortable in there with those people".

She added that her family had given their blessing, as Sue explained during the interview earlier: "[They said] say whatever you feel, what you're happy to feel, so I did".

She has since spoken about her experience on Good Morning Britain (ITV)

Sue added during the discussion that she doesn't "have a filter". And she explained that campmates forget they are being filmed whilst living in the jungle camp within Australia.

Sue had spoken about her adoption in camp. She said that she kept in touch with her birth mother and her siblings after being introduced to the family in her twenties.

The Corrie actress said she reconnected with her birth mother by chance. She recalled having been working with the Royal Exchange in Manchester, whilst at drama school, at the time of it.

She said a fellow actor described her as the "absolute double" of his own wife. Sue said he asked for her date of birth and the location, before calling his wife to say: "I've found her."

Her campmates were taken aback by the story after it had been shared with them. Former footballer Jill Scott, 35, said in response: "Nah, that has just given me goosebumps."

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight (November 22) on ITV and ITV Hub from 9pm. Good Morning Britain continues tomorrow (November 23) from 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
