I'm A Celeb's ruined castle faces emergency building work amid safety concerns

The new I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! location is facing emergency structural work to prevent it from crumbling during filming.

ITV bosses recently revealed that the hit show will be filmed in the UK for the first time in I'm A Celeb history.

Instead of taking place in the Australian jungle, the rumoured location for the upcoming show is believed to be a haunted castle known as Gwrych Castle, in Abergele, Wales.

In recent days, builders were called in to fix structural concerns amid “vertical cracking” in the old building.

On the castle's official social media page, the team wrote: “Day one of our planned emergency works to conserve the central keep at the castle.

“This area is a mix of medieval timbers and Georgian masonry.”

In the pictures, an enormous crane loomed over the stone building as workers in high-vis jackets were spotted building scaffolding as they got down to fixing the old structure.

The 200-year-old stone building offers a sprawling location that includes towers and winding paths that are perfect for the upcoming season.

This year's ITV series is expected to begin in November, meaning there's also still some time to get the castle up to scratch before the celebrities arrive.

Alongside a major location shakeup, the reality show is expected to face several other changes as the team adjust to social distancing guidelines.

As for the structure of the show itself, rumours suggest the eating trials will focus on creepy crawlies more native to the UK rather than widgety grubs and kangaroo testicles.

However, ITV bosses are so far keeping plans secret in the run up to the show.

Also yet to be announced is the star-studded lineup expected to head to the castle.

Although no official celebrity guests have been announced,  rumours have swirled around who could be making an appearance.

Among the stars tipped for an I'm A Celeb stint has been AJ Pritchard, Katherine Jenkins and even Tiger King's Carole Baskin.
