I’m A Celeb's Jill to finally plan wedding with fiancée 2 years after engagement

I'm A Celebrity winner Jill Scott is finally set to get married after a long two-year engagement to her doting fiancée Shelly Unitt.

Jill was greeted by Shelly after she was crowned Queen of the jungle on Sunday night.

Football icon Jill, 35, beat Hollyoaks star Owen Warner and MP Matt Hancock to the throne after a gruelling three weeks in the Australian jungle, and after her winning chats with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, Jill finally got to embrace her love Shelly on the famous I'm A Celebrity bridge.

Jill and Shelly, who have been together for over six years, are finally back together after the football star's epic jungle journey and the golden couple will now get down to business planning their much-anticipated wedding.

Jill told the Mirror how they got engaged two years ago, but the pandemic had other ideas for their nuptial plans.

“We got engaged two years ago and COVID hit us so I think we do need to get some planning in place.

“It will be nice. We need to sit down and just catch up on the last five weeks and what’s happened but obviously getting engaged, the next plan is to get wed.”

Shelly, 37, who has two daughters named Evie, 19, and Hattie, 15, has always been supportive of Jill’s career ventures, according to the Lioness. But that hasn’t made her time in the jungle and away from her any easier.

“I have always appreciated our relationship 100,” she explained. “Being able to go off and do football and be away two weeks out of every month it’s so hard for the person that you’re with and the sacrifices they have to do and knowing I had Shelly’s support going into this from day one, if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have been able to do it so we’re a good team.”

As they get cracking on the wedding planning, Jill put to bed any speculation that the pair might tie the knot while they’re in Oz.

“I am excited to see what happens in the future but I don’t think there will be a wedding in the jungle,” she told us.

While Shelly and her daughters are usually able to keep in contact with Jill while she's away, the time apart over the past three weeks proved incredibly difficult for Jill's fiancée due to the fact there was no contact between them - besides one letter that Shelly sent into camp in week two.

Jill explained how she’s struggled with not being able to contact her family, telling: “It was really difficult. Me and Shelly spoke about that, usually being away at a tournament you’re away for two and a half months sometimes but you can FaceTime, you can text, as long as I know Shelly is okay, family is okay, friends are okay – but not knowing that was really difficult.”

The new Jungle Queen took comfort in knowing specific dates that Shelly would be doing things, like flying to Australia to support her fiancée.

“You had to keep your mind on what you were doing and I took comfort in – certain dates were happening so I knew when Shelly was flying out and I knew she was with the other families so it was difficult, of course, it was, being away from loved ones, but coming out and seeing how proud everyone is making it all worthwhile.”

The football star was elated with her big win on Sunday, with her new friends and co-stars cheering her on as she was declared the new Queen of the Jungle.

Speaking as she was crowned, Jill smiled wildly as she celebrated her win. Owen, who placed second, was also thrilled for her.

"I can't believe it. I honestly think I'm going to owe my grandma a lot of money," she said, "These guys were absolutely incredible. I don't think there should be one winner."
