I'm A Celeb's favourite contestants lined up for brand new spin-off series

Some of I’m a Celebrity’s favourite contestants are being lined up for a return in the new spin-off series to be filmed in South Africa.

The show will comprise past winners and runners-up along with those whose performances were memorable for altogether different reasons.

Ant and Dec are to front the special series, exclusively revealed in yesterday’s Mirror.

Viewers will no doubt be hoping Myleene Klass is among those returning.

Who can forget the iconic moment in 2006 with her white bikini in the shower?

There could also be comebacks for Harry Redknapp, Kerry Katona, Gino D’Acampo, Joe Swash, Scarlett Moffatt or Stacey Solomon.

Outspoken

The show’s first two winners Tony Blackburn and Phil Tufnell from 2001 and 2002 may return.

Others who will not be forgotten include Lady Colin Campbell, probably the most outspoken contestant of all time.

She branded hapless Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley a “chippy oik” after he berated her for killing a beetle in 2015.

Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan will best be remembered as one of the participants who had no idea what they were letting themselves in for.

She was repeatedly voted to do trials but quit most of them – one before she’d even started – leaving the others fuming.

Some were popular just for being daft and loveable including Christopher Biggins.

The series begins filming this summer in Kruger National Park.

An ITV spokesman said: “The team behind I’m A Celebrity are making a brand new spin off of the hit series, this time set in South Africa.

"It will be hosted by Ant and Dec and will feature the most loved, favourite campmates from previous years.

"The campmates will be doing trials and living in the camp environment, but with fresh and exciting new twists on the format.”

“Because the show is pre-recorded rather than live, this time around viewers will see the celebs voting over who takes part in the trials and who leaves. The campmates will have a hand in their own destiny.”

The show is due to air in 2023. But Alison Hammond yesterday ruled herself out of being a presenter.

She said on This Morning : “Nah, I don’t think I would do it.”
