

Besides her iconic ’90s hit “L-O-V-E”, Deni Hines is also known for her iconic mother, Australian Idol‘s Marcia Hines. Insiders have claimed that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! producers were banking on the singer to discuss her family roots on the show, but unfortunately, the star decided to leave the shebang early.
ICYMI, Deni became the first star to leave I’m A Celeb basecamp in 2026 after shouting the infamous phrase, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here,” due to the long drops and shitty rice and bean dinners.
While the singer’s strong personality brought in some superb reactions from her campmates and the general public, producers reportedly wanted the star to talk about her relationship with Marcia.
According to insiders, producers were particularly interested in casting Deni after hearing rumours that she and her mum had been estranged for years, and that I’m A Celeb could be the perfect opportunity for her to open up about their relationship and how they reconnected.
“It was the ticket in,” the insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “The show loved the idea of Deni opening up about it and showing a different side.”

When asked about whether she was pushed to talk about her mother on I’m A Celeb, Deni revealed she was actually asked by a fellow campmate about Marcia and that she swiftly shut the conversation down.
“Cyrell [Paule], the first night, when I took her down to show her where we shower and where we wash the dishes, the first thing she said was, ‘Oh, you’re Marcia’s daughter, right?’ I said, ‘Cut the cord,'” Deni told PT.V. “She’s 72, and I’m 55. Next question.”

Deni went on to reveal that being asked about her mother has been “her whole life” and that it’s one of the biggest things she doesn’t miss about living in Australia, as she now resides in Thailand.
“You gotta understand, my whole life it’s been my life, which does my fucking head in, I hate it,” Deni continued. “That’s one of the things I don’t miss about living in Australia. When I’m there with my mother, we are just a fucking freak show.”

Furthermore, Deni urged folks to “cut the cord” when it comes to asking about her mother and assured everyone that they’re great, with Marcia visiting her recently in Thailand.
“Cut the cord. Girls, ladies and gentlemen, like been a long time,” Deni said. “She just visited me in Thailand for a week. It was great. I gotta say, she’s so much more relaxed here, because nobody knows who she is and she can just be her.”
Network 10 slams claims it pushed for a Marcia Hines storyline
In a statement to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Network 10 slammed claims that it produces set storylines for I’m A Celeb and that the famous folks “choose what they share, when they share it, and how much they reveal”.

Previously, insiders claimed that fellow 2026 Luke Bateman was barred from talking about his season of The Bachelors, which Network 10 also denied.
