I'm A Celeb's Caitlyn Jenner close to tears as dishes on reason for taking part

I'm A Celebrity evictee Caitlyn Jenner has had an emotional time since leaving camp.

She made a tearful farewell to her campmates on Friday, and when she chatted to Ant and Dec about her jungle forays, the waterworks kept up.

Tonight she sat down to chat with Extra Camp host Emily Atack, and very nearly came close to more tears as she revealed why she felt compelled to challenge herself.

"One of the reasons I wanted to do this show," she candidly said, "Is because obviously I'm trans and I've had to deal with this all my life.

"There's a lot of other people that are behind closed doors. Everybody's got stuff and everybody's got things that they have to deal with.

Caitlyn explained that she wants to be an inspiration (ITV)

"For me, this is what I had to deal with my whole life and how I overcame so many things. I wanted to be a positive inspiration to people, that you know what you can have differences, you can have issues, but just live your life authentically.

"It doesn't mean it's the end of your life, that you can go out, you can do stuff like this, you can be in the public eye. There is a life after it.

"And so I kinda wanted to show that, and generally inspire other people."

Caitlyn got choked up as she added: "You just wake up in the morning, and try to be yourself."

Emily was left speechless as the crew behind the camera started applauding and cheering for Caitlyn.

Emily turned to a joke, asking who would be invited out to stay with Caitlyn out in Malibu across the pond.

Caitlyn laughed and ended up inviting out the whole crew.

She formed an especially close bond with former England rugby legend, James Haskell.

After Caitlyn crossed the bridge, James and popstar Myles Stephenson turned up to meet her, sending fans into meltdown and making them gush over the pair.

She was also very close with Jacqueline Jossa, who she told reminds her of cosmetics guru daughter Kylie.

I'm A Celeb's back tomorrow night with this year's final - Kate Garraway was evicted during Saturday's show, leaving Jacqueline, Roman Kemp and Andy Whyment.
