I'm A Celeb: Helen Flanagan fans 'gutted' as popular stars axed from South Africa in shock double exit

Fans of I'm A Celebrity have been left feeling 'gutted' this evening (May 10) as two much-loved stars are axed from the South African camp. On tonight's show, viewers watched as the celebrities faced 'The Survival Trial'.

The trial involved the eight celebrities being contained inside boxes as they battled it out in a bid to keep their place in South Africa. It was a race against time for the stars, as the last two celebrities to complete the trial would be sent packing.

Helen Flanagan and Dean Gaffney were both unsuccessful in finishing the trial this evening, meaning it's the end of the road for the two stars. Speaking to Ant and Dec at the end of the trial, Helen said: "I've had the best time, I've had the time of my life, I've loved it so much."

Referencing 'The Survival Trial', Helen stated that she already knew that she would lose as soon as she saw the keys. She said: "I knew I was going to lose when I saw the keys.

"I have been locked out of my house once for 45-minutes with my kids in the car going 'I think the locks broke'. I had to get my neighbour and they were like 'no, it's fine'.

"I was literally mortified. So I knew that when I saw the keys I had no chance. It wasn't the box. I could have had anything in there."

Dean also stated that he struggled to find the key in the trial, adding that he often loses his keys at home. He said: "It's losing the key. Couldn't find the key. Always at home, can't find my key or my car. So there we go but me and Helen tried to the end."

Helen went on to add: "I am sad to be leaving, but I loved every second. I've just got the best memories."

She continued: "I did feel like I had a lot to prove. I really wanted to redeem myself from last time and I do feel like I've been able to do that. I feel like I was as fearless as I could, and I gave it what I could."

An emotional Dean went on to add: "Do you know what? I'm done. I've had an amazing time. I had such a laugh. I haven't laughed that much in years."

Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their disappointment with a number of viewers claiming that the pair's exit has left them 'gutted'. One Twitter user wrote: "Show won’t be the same without Helen and Dean." Another said: "Gutted Helen has left the I'm A Celeb camp, she has done so much better than last time! I think she has proven everyone wrong!"

A third wrote: "I'm gutted I loved Dean." A fourth said: "They should've done it live so we could vote for the winner because all the good ones have left."
