I’m A Celeb fans demand Boy George take accountability after slamming Scarlette

Fans of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! are calling for Boy George to ‘take accountability’ for his criminal past.

The Culture Club singer was quizzed about his court case by his campmate Scarlette Douglas, who he slammed as ‘inappropriate’ to viewers at home for mentioning the assault.

The 61-year-old spent four months in jail in 2009, after he handcuffed Audun Carlsen to a wall on a drug-filled night out.

He has always denied the claims that he also beat Carlsen, but Boy George was convicted of assault and sentenced to 15 months in jail.

Scarlette brought up the incident on Wednesday night’s episode, and Boy George took to the Bush Telegraph to say: “I thought it was inappropriate what she did, actually.

“I thought she shouldn’t have said what she said to me. And I thought I handled it really well as it’s a big sore point for me.”

However, fans of the hit ITV reality show were unimpressed that Boy George didn’t take accountability for his actions.

One passionate viewer took to Twitter and penned: “In all seriousness Boy George taking 0 accountability and turning it around on Scarlett by saying she was inappropriate for bringing it up just proves he’s a big ass narcissist and I want him gone #I’mACeleb.”

Others stated that Boy George was “disgusting” for the way he spoke about the assault, and called for him to leave the show.

“Get boy George out of that jungle now,” they tweeted. “The way he has spoken about the crime he committed is disgusting. Playing the victim. He shouldn’t be working. He’s right on that.”

Some viewers even labelled him a “hypocrite” after Boy George has questioned Matt Hancock about his past in parliament, but he shuts down any questions about himself.

“Boy George is such a hypocrite” one fan added, as a third said: “So people can ask Matt Hancock anything but when it’s Boy George then you can’t ask him anything.”

“Boy George isn’t ok with anyone bringing up his history but is happy to slag Matt off at any opportunity,” another wrote.

They also pointed out the double standards that Boy George called Scarlette ‘inappropriate’ when he was the one who committed the crime.

“Not Boy George calling Scarlette inappropriate, when he ASSAULTED A MAN,” one tweeted, as another agreed: “Me clocking Boy George’s double standards when being held accountable for his own abhorrent actions.”

A third said: “#ImACelebrity the audacity of George to call it inappropriate to talk about his court case as if he didn’t commit assault and false imprisonment #ImACeleb.”
