I'm A Celeb fans creeped out by new 'tension' music during Trial announcements

I'm A Celebrity viewers were left unsettled by a new addition to the show this evening - the sinister "tension" music played during the Trial announcement.

Tonight, the celebrities met for the first time as they collected at North Wales' Gwrych Castle, the new home of the hit ITV show.

This year, the programme has swapped the humid Australian jungle for the wet Welsh wilderness amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

And tonight, just as the celebs were about to settle into the castle for the night, Ant and Dec ruined their peace by announcing who would be the first to take part in the Trial.

Shane Richie and Jordan North were seemingly terrified as they were told they would be doing the Trial - but viewers were equally creeped out by the new music during Ant and Dec's announcement.

One fan tweeted: "#imacelebrity using its stressful music for the trial..like I need this..going to need a lie down now."

While another commented: "ooh they have changed the voting music #ImACeleb #imacelebrity."

A third questioned: "Why change the music #imacelebrity."

Executive producer Tom Gould previously opened up about the show's unique feel this year.

He said: “We want to retain what I'm A Celebrity is but wanting to draw on the castle and the setting to give it that unique new feel.

"I hope that is what we have done. Once we decided and committed to it, doing this has been a labour of love and a chance to reinvent but also keep the parts we know viewers know and love and recognise.”
