I'm A Celeb bosses insist show will 'follow strict Covid protocols' as Wales implements travel ban

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will still be filmed in Wales despite new restrictions, an ITV spokesperson told Standard Online.

There were fears the popular ITV series, hosted by Ant and Dec may be hauled from the schedules after Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford announced that UK citizens in areas under Tier 2 and Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions are banned from entering the country.

This has the potential for things to become particularly difficult as London is set to enter the Tier 2 stage of lockdown, while Greater Manchester is planning to plunge into Tier 3.

Wales is currently under some of the UK’s strictest coronavirus regulations, with most people unable to cross county lines without a “reasonable excuse” – which includes work.

However, a spokesperson for I’m a Celeb told Standard Online: “I'm A Celebrity continues to adhere to all relevant guidelines as well as our own strict Covid protocols.”

The hugely popular show has moved from its usual location in Australia as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic rages globally.

The new series is set to be filmed at Gwyrch Castle, which has since been closed to the public and is going under renovations to make it reality-TV ready.

Hosts Ant and Dec have since been spotted in Conwy, filming the hilarious new I’m a Celebrity trailer.

Currently, none of this year’s campmates have been announced.

However, a number of big names, such as presenter Vernon Kay, dancer AJ Pritchard and actor Tamzin Outhwaite have all been linked to the new series.
