I'm a Celeb and Hollyoaks stars among VIPs at ten pin bowling launch

Local celebs showed off their bowling skills during the VIP launch of Hollywood Bowl's new £2.8m venue.

The complex, on the New Mersey Retail Park, in Speke, boasts 16 bowling lanes and serves American-style food and drinks including hot dogs, burgers, and shakes which can be ordered direct to your lane via a QR code. The bowling alley is also home to an amusement arcade with family favourites such as air hockey, racing driver and Space Invader games.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here runner-up Owen Warner was in competitive spirits scoring his way to the top of the leader board after going head-to-head with friend and co-star Ellis Hollins. And Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe, who cut the ribbon at the official opening, put her own bowling skills to the test enjoying a night out with her five-year-old son Daye.

Other celebrity guests included Olympic bronze medal winner, Beth Tweddle, British Paralympian, Jack Hunter-Spivey, and Taekwondo World Champion, Bianca Walkden.

Jennifer said: “I adore bowling together as a family or with my friends. It’s a great way to settle a few scores – especially if you’re competitive like me. The new Hollywood Bowl centre in Speke has a great family atmosphere and is ideal for enjoying much needed fun.”

Centre Manager at Hollywood Bowl Speke Jenny Hares said: We have been bowled over by the incredible response we’ve received since opening, welcoming friends, family and ten pin bowling fans to our fantastic new Hollywood Bowl centre, which is part of the New Mersey retail park’s highly anticipated refurbishment.

“Hollywood Bowl has built a strong reputation for delivering affordable family experiences across the UK and we were thrilled to welcome VIP guests and celebrities as well as friends and families from across the city to come toast our official launch.”

Guests are encouraged to pre-book their bowling experience here. You can wear your own shoes to bowl in as long as they’re flat and covered.
