I’m A Celeb 2020: Millionaire's coughing major Charles Ingram tipped for castle stint

Charles Ingram is the latest famous face to be tipped by bookies for the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The controversial former army major was the subject of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? cheating scandal in 2001 alongside his wife Diana and former contestant Tecwen Whittock.

The Ingrams and their accomplice were found guilty of using an elaborate method of coughing to win the million-pound jackpot, but were eventually convicted in 2003.

Now, following the success of hit ITV drama Quiz which detailed the ins and outs of the Ingram’s cunning bid to the win a million, Charles may be in the running for yet another TV stint.

The show has won huge acclaim for the performances of Spooks star Matthew Macfadyen as Charles, Fleabag actress Sian Clifford as Diana, and Michael Sheen as former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host Chris Tarrant.

Following the return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to our screens, Ladbrokes have now cut odds to just 5/2 on the former controversial winner to make an appearance on the 2020 series.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "I'm A Celeb fans would love to see the Major on the show later this year.

“There's every chance they get their wish if the latest odds are anything to go by."

If bookies have predicted Ingram’s telly fate correctly, then the controversial figure will be battling it out in I’m A Celeb’s brand-new Welsh location.

ITV bosses have swapped the famous Australian jungle for Gwrych Castle, Abergele in North Wales.

The much-loved series - fronted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly - will see a celeb, for the first time ever, crowned King or Queen of the Castle - as producers ditch the usual leafy jungle in favour of the UK base amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Stars will still take part in grueling trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats in order to survive, but this time around, it will all take place in a spooky castle.

Although there will be no jungle scares this year, the celebs are still in for a frightful time as Gwrych Castle holds an incredibly dark history and has been used for Satanic rituals and is said to be haunted.

The castle - which was a popular visitor attraction in the 60s and 70s - is said to be haunted by the Countess of Dundonald.
