The phrase 'dress your age' is something we often hear. Sometimes it's hard to pull off something you would wear in your 20s if you've hit 50, but some people like to defy expectations and not care what others think.
A 49-year-old woman says she's constantly bashed by trolls who say she dresses too young for her age, but some say she rocks her distinctive style, and looks even better in the outfits than younger women.
Danelle McDougall, from Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia, is a fashion stylist who hopes to inspire "you to wear whatever you love at any age or size so you can look, think and feel confident".
The mum, who goes by @SpiritedStyled online, often post pictures of her colourful, age-defying looks on social media, showing that you can wear whatever you like.
In an Instagram post, Danelle said: "Best thing about being nearly 50 is; you don't listen to the nay sayers, you make your own rules, you wear whatever you love.
"But honestly don't wait till you're my age to start living by your own rules. Stop worrying what others will think. And do you boo at any age. As long as you're not hurting yourself or any one else and in your heart it sits right, do that."
It's easy to see that Danelle loves vibrant colour, and she has confessed she doesn't have many black items in her wardrobe.
In another Facebook post, where she's in a figure-hugging white dress with newspaper print on it, red high-heeled boots and big sunglasses, Danelle said: "We wear what we want and we're gunna [sic] shout it!
"Bottom line, wear what you love and feel comfortable in. If you wanna [sic] be extra be that. If you wanna [sic] be subtle be that."
“When you dress for YOU what other ppl [sic] say and think bares no weight at all."
In one of Danelle's videos, she looks confident in light blue jeans, a pink puffer jacket and big pink glasses, with the caption: "When the 'you dress too young for a 49-year-old' talk start up... Haven't heard that one before."
People flocked to the comment section to compliment the stylish woman, with one person saying: "You make it look better than the younger girls!"
Another said: "They are just mad because you have better style."
A third commented: "You do it so much better than the younger ones."
