'I love watching football' - Leeds United's Patrick Bamford reveals post-retirement aspirations

While he has no plans to retire anytime soon, Patrick Bamford has revealed that he is eyeing a career in punditry when he eventually hangs up his boots.

On the back of his 17-goal return to the Premier League last season, the Leeds United striker has played just five times so far this term as a result of an ankle injury he sustained against Newcastle United.

After getting a goal and two assists in those games, his presence leading the line for Marcelo Bielsa’s side has been missed with the Whites sat just outside the relegation zone.

At the age of 28, it is unlikely that Bamford will be thinking of retirement in the near future but he did admit that going into punditry is something that he is interested in.

“I quite like the idea of being involved with football when I’m older,” he told MOTDx.

“Not so much the managerial or coaching side but in terms of the things Gary Lineker does; being a pundit, watching football and analysing it.

“I love watching football, I’m not coming for his job but maybe something like that!”

Leeds supporters will be hoping that the England forward will have plenty more years of pulling on the white shirt ahead of him, but it is certainly something you could see Bamford doing.

Considering Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s recent appearance on Monday Night Football, it might even be something that he can pursue whilst playing.

The Everton striker was a pundit on Sky Sports for his side’s defeat against Wolves last week as, like Bamford, he was unavailable for selection with an injury.
