'I love Liverpool' woman's tweet about kindness of strangers in Liverpool's Costco goes viral

A woman’s tweet about an act of kindness she witnessed in Liverpool’s Costco went viral with people saying it proves scousers are the ‘nicest people ever’.

Twitter user @LynnLauraX shared her experience on Tuesday after shopping in the city’s Waterloo Road store.

She wrote: “I love Liverpool. Just been in Costco & 2 lads were buying a tonne of alcohol, bottles & bottles of Moët champagne, and the lady behind him told the till worker she’s just beat cancer so the lads gave her a bottle of Moët & wished her a happy christmas”.

With a week to go until Christmas, the tale struck a chord with many and received a huge reaction as it was shared by nearly 900 people and liked by 15k.

Many said the act of kindness showed the true spirit of Liverpool and its people.

Twitter user @daz25777, replied: “We understand misfortune and injustice more than most so when things can be bettered with fortune or justice you'll find us at the front of that said queue.”

And @ROUNDTHEBEND__ said: “Standard Liverpool. Some boss people”

Twitter user @Stacey_Holberry wrote: “my other half been working in Liverpool (he’s a Manc) and he said there the nicest people ever all proper sound n got loads of tips of everyone”

While @tillythetaxi said: “The beauty of Liverpool is the kindness we show to strangers. A truly lovely gesture well done lads.”
