'I love and miss you' Mum of missing Scots RAF man Corrie McKeague pays special 27th birthday tribute

The heartbroken mum of missing Scots gunner Corrie McKeague has paid a special birthday tribute to her “infuriatingly lovable” son.

Nicola Urquhart shared three heartwarming snaps of the young RAF man, who disappeared during a night out in Suffolk in 2016.

Marking his 27th birthday yesterday, the 51-year-old wrote: “I love you and miss you, your smile, your humour and every infuriatingly lovable bone in your body.”

Hundreds of well-wishers on the Find Corrie Facebook page also shared their support and birthday messages with the serviceman’s family.

Corrie, who was just 23 when he vanished, is believed to have fallen asleep inside a dumpster before being put into the back of a bin lorry.

A massive search for the missing RAF Honington gunner was launched - costing more than £2 million - including two sweeps of a landfill site in Milton.

No trace of the popular Scot has even been found with his devoted mum previously saying she does believe that her son is dead.

But she continues to hold out hope that his remains will one day be found, bringing some form of closure to his family.

A recent grim discovery of bagged up human remains inside a river 17 miles from where Corrie was last seen sparked fresh hope amongst his friends and loved ones.

Suffolk Police were initially unable to rule out if the bones, which were found on August 27, belonged to Corrie.

His mum, from Dunfermline in Fife, said she was “trying to keep a sensible head on”.

Speaking at the time, she said: “It is really difficult just to wait until you get an answer because there's as much chance of this not being Corrie as it being Corrie but it's going to be someone's son or daughter.

"It's just awful."

Officers were eventually able to tell the McKeague family that the human remains were not Corrie after a post mortem and extensive enquiries.

They instead belong to a man of a ‘muscular build’ who died up to a year ago.

His identity remains unknown.
