'I lost so it wasn't great' - How ten-pin bowling session helped Notts County

Jim O’Brien says Notts County’s recent ten-pin bowling session proved a great way of strengthening their team spirit - even though he admitted he was “hopeless”.

The Magpies embarked on a team bonding session last week which saw the group also take in a meal at Nando’s together in the aftermath of their heroics in the 2-1 win at Yeovil.

It was a rare chance for Notts to get together outside of the dressing room and helped welcome new signings Callum Roberts and Joe McDonnell to the club.

And O’Brien said that even though there were some shoddy performances on the lanes, it was a worthwhile experience.

“I lost so it wasn’t that great for me,” joked O’Brien.

“Callum Roberts was in the losing team as well and he was absolutely hopeless like me.

“I think Enzio (Boldewijn) dribbled it down the lane at one stage.

“It was good to get everyone together.

“I was rooming with Joe McDonnell for the Yeovil game.

“We got the initiations done. You make the new lads feel welcome and then get straight to work.

“If anyone else comes in, it’s a  case of let’s see what you’ve got and hit the ground running because that’s what we need at this stage of the season.”
