The outbreak of Covid-19 has seen many people made redundant as countries around the world were forced to go into lockdown.
A woman known as Roxie (not her real name) was one such person who lost her job during this difficult time and she's explained her situation to whimn.com.au.
Roxie was working in marketing, but soon realised that if she wanted to keep paying her bills she would need to find a different way to make money while in quarantine.
She wasn't too worried about this as she didn't really love her marketing role to begin with, but she wasn't sure what she was going to do.
The 27-year-old had always been interested in pursuing a career in the sex industry and then one of her friends posted on Facebook to say she was a cam girl.
Intrigued she decided to message the woman to find out more about camming.
A cam girl is an internet model who appears on a web cam and poses and performs, this can involve stripping or doing sexual acts, but sometimes people just pay for chats with them.
Roxie recently started working in the industry and says she's really enjoying it so far.
Speaking to Whimn she said: "I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far. You never know who is going to come into your room next, or what they will be into.
"There is also an aspect of saleswomanship which I enjoy. I love being my own boss. I decide what I do and when I go online."
She continued: "Sundays, I make the most money. Just before pay day can be tough, people don’t have the money to spend.
"Also, I have my period each month, which makes that week difficult. Some people are into period sex, but it’s much fewer."
Roxie says that she's been working nine to 12 hours per week so far but will soon double that.
She claims that once she ups her hours, she'll be earning more than she did in her full-time marketing position.
But is she worried about people finding out what she's doing?
No, is the simple answer. Her fiancé already knows and sometimes he even joins in on camera or watches her perform.
"He quite likes it," she said.
Roxie's also told some of her friends and says she'd be ok with her parents finding out about it too.
"I am 27-years-old. I'm a grown woman and I make my own decisions," she added. "If my dad could make a living out of staying home and masturbating, I’m sure he would."
