'I lost eight dress sizes after dumping takeaways - and my fat-shaming boyfriend'

A woman who ballooned to 32st lost half her body weight after dumping takeaways – and the boyfriend she says fat-shamed her.

Angela Snagg, 32, gained weight fast after she became pregnant with the first of her two children, Rosalie, eight.

After the birth, her weight increased as she sought comfort in booze and fast food. She would wolf down a full English breakfast and snack on toast throughout the day.

At night her Chinese takeaway order would include soup, ribs, chicken curry, egg fried rice and chips.

A turning point came when, she says, her boyfriend mocked her size 30 body.

Angela, also mum to April, seven, decided enough was enough and ditched him, along with her bad habits.

She swapped takeaways for lean meat and fish and now boxes six times a week.

Just 18 months later, Angela is a confident size 16. She said: “I’m so proud of myself and when I look in the mirror I struggle to believe it’s actually me.”

Angela, from Liverpool, is now training to be a fitness instructor and has found new love with Gary, 30.

She said: “I felt so worthless for a long time because of my previous relationship, I never thought that I’d ever meet someone who loved me properly.

“But Gary has known me since I was at my very biggest, so I know he loves me for who I really am.

“I’ve changed not just my life but my kids’ lives for the better.”
