'I'll savour that for a long time...': Pat Cummins reveals his most memorable World Cup final moment

NEW DELHI: Australia captain Pat Cummins delved into the unforgettable moments of the ICC ODI World Cup final in a recent interview with Australian newspaper The Age, highlighting the dismissal of Virat Kohli as a pivotal point that would stay with him for a lifetime.

When asked which moment he would remember the most from the final game, Cummins responded with Kohli's wicket, emphasising the significance of the Indian maestro's dismissal. The 30-year-old pacer shared his excitement, recalling that after taking Kohli's wicket, the entire stadium fell into an eerie silence.

"I think the Virat Kohli wicket I was obviously very pumped. And then, we're in the huddle after that wicket, and Steve Smith says, 'Boys, listen to the crowd for a second'. And we just took a moment of pause, and it was as quiet as a library; 100,000 Indians there, and it was so quiet. I'll savour that moment for a long time," Cummins revealed.

In the final, Cummins bowled a short-length ball in the 28.3 overs of the first innings, resulting in Kohli's dismissal as the ball took an inside edge and fell onto the stumps. Despite Kohli's 54-run contribution, India struggled on a challenging batting surface, posting a total of 240 in their 50 overs.

Australia successfully chased down the target with standout performances from Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschagne (58), securing their sixth ODI World Cup title at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
