'I'll never say never' - Steve Bruce refuses to comment on Newcastle's interest in Rodrigo Vilca

Steve Bruce has refused to comment on Newcastle United's links with Peruvian youngster Rodrigo Vilca.

The playmaker is rated at £250,000 but his club Deportivo Municipal are believed to want more for his services.

When asked directly about Vilca, Bruce said: "I'm not going to comment on anybody coming in terms of names.

"You can never say never. We will see what the market throws at us.

"We'll see what becomes available.

"I am pleased with what we've done but I'll never say never."

Bruce was then asked about the possibility of an exit for DeAndre Yedlin - who has been linked with a move back to the United States and reported interest from Turkey.

Bruce said: "I have seen it. But then again I have seen it with so many players.

"As far as I am concerned it's pure speculation."

Bruce also delivered an update on injuries and spoke about the injury scare for Allan Saint-Maximin who picked up a knock against Blackburn.

Bruce said: "It's still too early for Dummett, Schar, Matty Longstaff and Dubravka.

"We have a clean bill of health. Allan Saint-Maximin is fine."
